This time it's good, Spotify's Music Pro offer is coming this year (maybe)!

By dint of waiting, Spotify's Music Pro formula will eventually arrive one day or another... Unveiled in February 2021 with its lossless music offering, it was supposed to be launched later that year. Unfortunately for the European streaming giant, the competition didn't wait: Apple Music and Amazon Music launched their own lossless catalogs a few months later.

Lossless audio, mixing and AI

Spotify therefore had to go back to work, starting with changing the name of the offer, alternately called "HiFi", then "Supremium", and now "Music Pro". Last summer, a rumor from Bloomberg predicted a launch in 2024, but as we saw... nothing came of it! The same publication has repeated the story in recent days, assuring that this time, it was certain, cross your heart, Spotify Music Pro would indeed be released in 2025. However, caution recommends taking the indiscretion with a grain of salt.

This proposal will be aimed at Spotify's biggest consumers who want not only the best audio quality — since that's still the case — but also remix tools and access to concert tickets. The platform intends to charge $5.99 for all these services, in addition to the traditional premium subscription.

Music Pro subscribers will be able to mix songs from multiple artists, with the help of artificial intelligence. This requires prior approval from record companies. Spotify also wants to test different ways of selling concert tickets, by giving these subscribers access to the best seats and pre-sales. Here too, this requires negotiations with tour operators.

In 2024, Spotify had the best year in its history, posting an operating profit of 477 million euros for a turnover of 4.2 billion (+16% compared to 2023). The company has 675 million monthly active users (+12%), including 263 million paying subscribers (+11%).
