Pixel smartphone owners have been well served by the new Pixel Drops in March, but Google hasn't forgotten users of competing Android smartphones. They'll be getting 4 new features, including: start with real-time alerts when Google Messages suspects a scam attempt.
AI detects scams
The app uses AI to detect patterns and behaviors commonly associated with scams in messages that may appear harmless. Once alerted, you can block the recipient or report the conversation. The processing of this function is done locally, directly on the device.
The Scam Detection feature is available in English, in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. More languages and countries will follow.
The March delivery also offers a new function to inform friends and family of your location in real time. And this, regardless of whether they have an Android smartphone or something else.
