The iliad Group (Free in France, iliad in Italy, and Play in Poland) has announced impressive results for 2024. This is a historic year for the group, which has surpassed two important milestones: 50 million customers and €10 billion in revenue. This achievement places iliad in 5th place among the largest telecom operators in Europe, confirming its strong growth on the continent for the second consecutive year.
This success is due to a strong increase in revenue across the group (+8.5%). iliad successfully gained new customers (2 million) while increasing the value of its offerings in the countries where it operates: France, Poland, and Italy.
In France, Free once again attracted numerous customers, becoming the leading operator for recruiting new subscribers for both landline and mobile phones. In total, 668,000 new customers joined Free. This enabled Free to increase its revenues by 8.2%. In 2024, Free also distinguished itself by launching Wi-Fi 7 and 5G SA in France, putting pressure on its main competitors. The ISP is also the one that offers the most impressive speeds, according to the latest rankings from Zone ADSL&Fibre.
Solid growth and market share gains in all countries
Poland also performed very well with a 9.7% increase in revenue. The Play group, iliad's subsidiary in Poland, gained market share in mobile and made good progress in fixed-line despite strong competition.
In Italy, iliad Italia continues to attract new mobile customers. For the seventh consecutive year, iliad Italia is the operator that has recruited the most new mobile subscribers (906,000). The company also managed to attract many customers for its fiber internet (142,000 new subscribers). For the first time since its launch in Italy, iliad Italia's mobile business generated more money than it spent on its fiber investments.
Beyond the growth in revenue and the number of subscribers, the iliad Group's business model has improved considerably in 2024. Profit before tax, depreciation and amortization increased by 11.8% to €3.85 billion. In addition, the group generated significantly more money than it spent (+28% to €1.83 billion). This enabled iliad to strengthen its financial position.
Building on these good results, iliad aims to continue its growth and further improve its profitability. For the year 2025, the group is aiming for a target of €2.0 billion in operating cash flow (the money generated by the activity after current expenses have been paid).
