The Boys will return next year (hopefully) for a fifth and final season that promises plenty of violence. Colby Minifie, who plays Ashley Barrett, CEO of Vought, just read the finale, which she describes as "very satisfying." Here's what that could mean for the final episodes of the popular Prime Video series - beware, possible spoilers!

Ashley Barrett was a Vought executive until the terrible and terrifying Homelander (Anthony Starr) appointed her CEO. A front position, which allows the superhero to control the company without appearing to do so. Played by Colby Minifie, she first appeared in Season 1, where she was tasked with managing the Supes' image (without much success). Still present in the series, the actress spoke to Screen Rant about the finale during an interview about her new film, The Surrender. According to the actress, it is "very satisfying," which is a pretty good sign! I read the finale last night. It's an extremely satisfying finale. That's what I'll say. It's extremely satisfying. I was emotional reading it... the only way it works, as we said, is when it's realistic. If we think it's grounded in reality and something the audience can relate to, it works, you know? I have a crazy boss and he makes me want to pull my hair out, you know? [In The Surrender], I have issues with my mom. Our dad is dead, and Mom wants to bring him back. The grief is real, and everyone can relate to it from there.

What's in store for season 5 of The Boys

By teasing a "very satisfying finale, Colby Minifie is likely thinking of counterexamples, and therefore less-than-successful series conclusions, like the ones we mention in this top worst series endings. Ending a series as beloved as The Boys is a perilous exercise: many showrunners have failed to wrap up their stories well in the past. We're thinking in particular of Game of Thrones, whose season 8 probably drove more than one fan mad - with rage and/or pain. And yet, in the comics, the finale of The Boys has an aftertaste that reminds us of the cult HBO series. After Homelander's death, killed by Black Noir, Billy Butcher reveals his true plan to Hughie.

The former CIA agent plans to kill everyone in possession of Compound V, even those who are innocent, even children, believing it to be an abomination. The only person who would survive this genocide would be Hughie, whom he considers his little brother. To prevent him from committing these crimes, Hughie kills Butcher by pushing him off the Empire State Building. This ending reminds us of Jon Snow's fratricide, committed reluctantly to stop Daenerys's madness, doesn't it?
As for Ashley Barrett's character, one of the new supers in the series since she injected herself with Component V at the end of Season 4, we hope she escapes Homelander's vengeance... But nothing is less certain!
