Every year, thousands of video games are released on most of the platforms we all know: PC, Xbox (Series X/S), PlayStation (PS5) or Nintendo (Switch). Among these games, some are developed by "First-Party" studios that belong to manufacturers and are therefore exclusives.
This is the case for Naughty Dog, Santa Monica Studio, Insomniac Games, Guerrilla Games or even Team Asobi at PlayStation. But we also find First-Party studios at Microsoft (with Turn 10, Double Fine Productions, The Coalition, Ninja Theory or even Playground) and Nintendo (with Retro Studio, ND Cube, 1-Up Studio or even Monolith Soft).
But many games that come out on the different platforms are also titles from third-party studios, which are not exclusive. However, Microsoft notes that its console is not necessarily the dominant platform and that some titles are not released on it, even if there is no exclusivity agreement with Sony or Nintendo. To overcome this problem, the company American company decides to launch a new program to attract new developers to Xbox.
Xbox Research: new developers on Xbox
With its new program, Microsoft intends to attract new developers to be able to release even more games on Xbox, but also to make life even easier for developers who are already on Xbox. This new program called Xbox Research (similar to the old Xbox Insider program) allows developers to respond to a series of questions to better understand and target their opinions and needs.
This program will collect feedback on tools, performance tuning, debugging utilities, and many other aspects of game development to attract new developers, but also to gather feedback from game studios that already offer games on Xbox.

With this new program, Microsoft wants to simplify access to development on Xbox consoles and therefore offer players even more titles. There is a good chance that this program will be a solution to deal with recent issues such as with Baldur’s Gate III which was released many months after the PS5 version following technical issues on Xbox and in particular the Series S.
This is also the case with the fighting games Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics and Capcom Fighting Collection 2 which will arrive on Xbox next year, again following technical issues. The recent critical and commercial success Black Myth Wukong and Enotria: The Last Song are also part of the list of games planned for Xbox, but which will arrive with an indefinite delay due to development issues on Microsoft consoles.
