Monster Hunter Wilds: a huge ultra -awaited surprise finally confirmed

Monster Hunter Wilds will soon be getting its first big free update. On the menu, a multiplayer hub with lots of little things to do, a new big monster, the Mizutsune, as well as the ability to hunt the Zoh Shia. This highly anticipated content will lead to even bigger things, also announced during Capcom's latest showcase. Among the announcements, the identity of one of the next big monsters was revealed. revealed, and it's a big surprise, a creature that fans have been asking for for a very, very long time, which will soon join the bestiary of Monster Hunter Wilds.

Monster Hunter Wilds makes an extremely anticipated announcement

If you hang out on Reddit or X on the franchise's fan channels, you must have come across a large investigation about a howl audible from the caves of the Scarlet Forest. A cry that would be recognizable among a thousand, that of a beloved predator fans, the flagship monster of Monster Hunter Tri: the Lagiacrus.

Yes, it's a dream awaited by many fans, the return of the very first aquatic leviathan is now a reality. The Lagiacrus was confirmed at the very end of Capcom's showcase with a shiver-inducing teaser. The beast's distinctive howl echoes against a black screen before its talons slam the still-warm corpse of one of its prey onto the ground.

An ultra-appreciated monster

The Lagiacrus is an iconic creature for several reasons. It is the flagship monster of Monster Hunter Tri and therefore has an important place in the story, but it is also and above all the first aquatic leviathan of the series. It is also thanks to the latter that we were able to inaugurate the first underwater confrontations, as exciting as they were frustrating for the time. The gameplay was particularly tough underwater, we are not going to lie. Between the rigidity of the whole, the fact of having to pay attention to the environment and the agility of Lagiacrus, it wasn't very obvious, but in some ways it was also extremely exhilarating.

The return of this mechanic is requested by a large part of the community, but has very little chance of seeing the light of day. In any case, it's especially the creature's return that everyone is eagerly awaiting, and that's a good thing! Lagiacrus will therefore return to Monster Hunter Wilds this summer. We don't have a specific date yet, but Capcom should give us some news by May or June. One thing is certain, the hunters will be there.
