Netflix announces an MMO halfway between Zelda and Stardew Valley

Netflix is becoming more than ever a key player in the video game industry. What started as a small selection of mobile games for subscribers to the service has transformed into a veritable catalog full of gems to take everywhere. No one imagined that the red N would manage to keep its promises in terms of video games, but the streaming giant never ceases to surprise us. Moreover, its latest announcement is sure to delight fans of cozy games. Netflix was present at the 2025 edition of the Game Developers Conference to present its new exclusive title: Spirit Crossing.

This is the next production from the Spry Fox studio, already behind Cozy Grove, which the platform bought in 2022 to expand its gaming division. If the name of this game already reminds you of Animal Crossing, wait until you watch the trailer which promises a community and relaxing experience, halfway between Stardew Valley and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

The ultimate cozy game

With Spirit Crossing, Netflix and Spry Fox borrow from the greatest hits of the genre to create the perfect recipe. Pastel graphics, dreamlike world, open-world exploration, crafting, decorating, fishing, relaxing soundtrack... Nothing is left out and the gameplay already has enough to dream about. To top it all off, this mobile game will be Netflix's first MMO and will therefore allow players to share this experience with their friends and loved ones. It will be possible to venture out with several people, build shared neighborhoods, or even organize concerts in the heart of the hub.

With climbing and parasailing systems straight from Breath of the Wild, combined with the most popular mechanics of farming and other cozy games, the red N is putting all its chances on its side to catch the eye of players. Enough to ensure a new wave of massive subscriptions, since Spirit Crossing will be exclusively accessible on mobile via a Netflix subscription. The game's release date has not yet been official, but the studio promises to release it before the end of the year. Gamers eager to discover this promising experience can already sign up for the Closed Alpha test by filling out a form on the game's official website. However, it may be that only Netflix subscribers can participate, since the registration questionnaire asks if you have an active subscription.
