The last of us season 2: the title of episode 1 has been revealed and it is heavy with meaning, we explain you

The last days are the hardest. As we write this article, season 2 of The Last of Us arrives on our screens in a little over 2 weeks, on April 14, 2025 to be precise. Fans are eager to see Joel (played by Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (played by Bella Ramsey) again, especially when we remember the conclusion of season 1, which announced an extremely complex relationship between the two main characters.

While waiting to see what the future holds for them, we learn the title of the first episode of season 2, which will have 7 in total. It is obviously not insignificant and allows us to know a little more about the direction the series will take, even if at this stage, these remain hypotheses. But in this case, the title makes a very direct reference to the video game that serves as the source for the adaptation: Future Days. Warning, we are going to spoil what happens in The Last of Us the game.

The title of the first episode of season 2 of The Last of Us was not chosen at random

Future Days is the title of a Pearl Jam song released in 2013. If you have a good ear, you may have heard a few notes in the very first trailer for The Last of Us season 2. This is the song that Joel plays on the guitar in front of Ellie during the opening scene of the second part of the game.

The scene will also be reproduced in the series, we saw it in another trailer. The song echoes the relationship between the two characters in his lyrics. For example, those that say, once translated, “If I ever lost you, I would surely lose myself“.

As for the title itself, should we see it as a foreshadowing of the tragic event that occurs in the game? Namely, Joel's death at the hands of Abby? Will Ellie have to face the “future days” alone? To find out, tune in on April 14 on Max.
