The story may recall that the Vision Pro was (as expected) the fourth platform of the Apple company to benefit from the Apple Intelligence functions, after the iPhone, iPad and Mac. It was with visionOS 2.4 that they appeared in the mixed reality headset, through the first beta of the operating system provided to developers yesterday evening. The general public will be entitled to: a final version in April.
More intelligence and apps
No need to rush: only US English is supported at the moment, other languages will have to wait for better days (Apple Intelligence is available in French with iOS 18.4). The Vision Pro includes the main functions of generative AI, such as writing assistance tools to correct or rewrite a text, the Image Playground app which generates images to from queries and other visuals, the famous Genmoji, smart replies in Mail, the creation of video memories in the Photos app as well as natural language search in the same application.
It's not just Apple Intelligence in this update. Apple has also developed a brand new application, Spatial Gallery which, as its name suggests, allows you to visualize spatial content. It will be a selection of photos, videos and panoramas designed for immersion. At launch, content from Cirque du Soleil, Red Bull and Porsche will be offered, as well as making-of Apple TV+ series.
We can only hope that the catalog fills up faster than Apple's own immersive content, which continues to deliver them in an exasperating drip.
Less anecdotal, the Vision Pro's very impractical guest mode is improved thanks to the iPhone. The smartphone’s Control Center lets you select which apps the guest wearing the headset can use. It’s also possible to control the Vision Pro’s AirPlay screen mirroring (the image in the headset is displayed on the TV screen, for example), to help guide the person through the device. However, the guest still has to set up eye and hand tracking, a quick but tedious process. It remains in memory for 30 days.
iPhone still, with a new Apple Vision Pro application allowing to download games and applications for the headset remotely. The user will also be able to consult the latest immersive content.
