Xiaomi SU7 Ultra: This first circuit test reveals its performance against Porsche

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra has just been tested for the first time on the circuit. With its 1,526 horsepower, this electric sedan impressed with its power and technology. During this test, it even beat a Porsche Taycan Turbo GT on this terrain.

Xiaomi SU7 Ultra: This first circuit test reveals its performance against Porsche

Xiaomi is no longer just a tech giant, it is now a serious player in the automotive industry. With its SU7 range, the Chinese brand has launched itself into the electric vehicle sector by offering several versions: Standard, Pro and Max. But it is the SU7 Ultra that pushes the boundaries even further. A lightweight version specially prepared for the track had already caused a sensation by breaking a record on the Nürburgring in October 2024. It thus became the fastest four-door electric sedan on this legendary circuit. This time, it is the final version of the model that has been put to put to the test in a full-scale test on the Shanghai International Circuit.

Unlike the Nürburgring prototype, which was optimized with a carbon fiber body and extreme aerodynamic elements, this version of the SU7 Ultra is the one that will be marketed. However, it retains its 1,526 horsepower and impressive performance. During the test conducted by Chinese drivers and journalists, the sedan demonstrated its potential by beating the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT by 1.5 seconds on the track.

The first test of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra reveals impressive power, but a restrictive weight

The journalists were able to discover the behavior of the vehicle in different conditions. Despite its extreme power, the SU7 Ultra retains all the features of a high-end sedan, including advanced driving aids. Xiaomi has even integrated an Endurance mode which limits the power to 900 horsepower to preserve autonomy and avoid overheating during intensive use on the track. A surprising point noted by the testers: even under full acceleration, the driving assistance remains functional.

Despite its performance, some testers highlighted a flaw: its weight. In corners, the SU7 Ultra seems less agile than other competitors such as the Zeekr 001 FR. However, for a first attempt in the automobile industry, Xiaomi hits hard. With a price of around 70,0000 euros and production planned for 10,000 copies in 2025, it stands out as a credible alternative to European models. For the curious, it is possible to relive this test in video and analyze in detail the performance of the sedan against Porsche.
