Armored Core: An announcement we didn't see coming

FromSoftware has managed to sell more than 3 million copies of Armored Core 6 Fires of Rubicon. This is a long, long way from the 28.6 million copies of Elden Ring, but it's still very good for a series that is still considered niche. "We have a strong desire to continue developing it in the future. I think Episode 6 was a success, but on the other hand, not everything was perfect and there is still room for improvement," said Hidetaka Miyazaki during an interview with IGN. An old Armored Core game is back on console and PC

Almost two years after the release of Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon, the series is making an announcement we didn't see coming. Are you familiar with the G-Mode Archives and Archives+? This is a vast reissue project that aims to faithfully recreate mobile games as they were at the time, and port them to more modern machines. The Nintendo Switch, for example, has had the right to a bunch of titles and now offers Japanese players the chance to (re)discover Armored Core Mobile Mission, knowing that the sequel will also arrive at a later date. Armored Core Mobile Mission is a game released on smartphones in 2004, exclusively in Japan, and developed by FromSoftware. The title offers a very different experience from the most well-known games, especially the latest one, since it adopts a top-down view and displays graphics that are, to say the least, pixelated. For the rest, we find the characteristics that make the license so charming with the customization of the mech, by choosing its parts and weapons, and obviously the whole action part where we can test our creation during missions. Armored Core Mobile Mission is also coming to Steam starting April 30, 2025. Don't count on a French translation, though, as English seems to be included.
