11 bit studio, well known for its challenging yet deep management games, has just confirmed news that should delight Frostpunk fans: a new installment in the series is in development, with a release scheduled for as early as 2027.
A logical sequel to the strong Frostpunk license
It was during its latest financial report that 11 bit studios lifted the veil on this still mysterious project. Without going into details, the studio simply indicated that it was the next game set in the Frostpunk universe, with production now well underway. The goal? To continue to capitalize on a license that has made an impression thanks to its icy atmosphere, heartbreaking moral choices, and advanced survival mechanics. In the press release, the Polish studio explains that it now wants to diversify its projects, by playing on both the size of productions and their release rates. This is a way of not betting everything on a single big title. at the same time, and to ensure a regular presence on the video game scene.
With this in mind, 11 bit also announced that another larger game is in development. This one is not related to Frostpunk, and should not see the light of day until 2029. No details have been given, but this confirms that the studio is looking ahead.
A busy calendar in the meantime
At the same time, the studio is not staying inactive and is not only working on Frostpunk. It is preparing for this summer the release of Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault, a sequel to the action/management game that had been a great success. And above all, The Alters, an ambitious narrative game, will arrive on June 13 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series. Little info that will delight subscribers: The Alters will be available Day One on Game Pass, confirming the still solid partnership between Microsoft and 11 bit studios.
