Assassin's Creed Shadows is going to make a highly anticipated announcement and it has leaked.

It's a little piece of information slipped in discreetly... but it's making a big splash. Assassin's Creed Shadows, just released on next-gen consoles, could well be coming to Nintendo Switch 2. It's not Ubisoft who's announcing it, but a detail spotted on an official European website.

A clue from PEGI for Assassin's Creed Shadows

The alert comes from PEGI, the European organization that classifies games by age. In its most searched titles section, a mention of Assassin's Creed Shadows appears... for the Nintendo Switch 2. However, it's impossible to find this version via the classic search. This isn't the first time a game has been leaked in this way. Generally, these appearances anticipate an official announcement. In short, the port already seems to be in the pipeline.

Officially, Ubisoft hasn't confirmed anything yet. But the publisher has already announced that it would actively support the Switch 2. Star Wars Outlaws, scheduled for September 4, is already confirmed for Nintendo's next console. In this context, it would be surprising if Assassin's Creed Shadows missed out. Ubisoft has often ported its games to Big N platforms, even when the technology required some compromises. We are thinking in particular of Assassin's Creed III Remastered or The Ezio Collection on the current Switch.

Which version on Switch 2?

The big question remains: what will the game look like on Nintendo Switch 2? On PS5, Xbox Series, and PC, Assassin's Creed Shadows offers an ambitious, detailed open world with high-level graphics. Since the Switch 2 is still fairly discreet in terms of power, it's difficult to imagine the final rendering. But the first information from the big presentation speaks of a machine much more powerful than the current Switch.

What makes such a port credible, and even promising, is if the optimizations are there. We can notably imagine that the famous DLSS technology will do its job to offer top-notch optimization. But with a docked mode now capable of displaying in 4K, will that be enough? Wait and see.
