Last week saw the release of Atomfall, the new game from Rebellion. Since its announcement, the title has garnered quite a bit of enthusiasm from players. With its retrofuturistic side and its nuclear catastrophe, the game inevitably reminds us of Fallout and in this period of long wait for the fifth opus, Atomfall came at the right time.
And, indeed, success seems to be there, since in just one weekend, the title has managed to become the biggest launch in Rebellion's history.
Atomfall: on the road to atomic success?
On March 27, Rebellion released its new game: Atomfall. The title offered you the chance to dive into a reality alternative, in the 1960s, during the Windscale nuclear disaster in the north of England. You play as a strange character, who remembers nothing and wakes up in a bunker. The objective is to survive in this devastated world and find answers to find out what happened and, above all, how to escape from this quarantine zone that seems doomed.
Atomfall is far from being a big-budget AAA like Bethesda's behemoth Fallout. However, it doesn't do too badly and offers some great qualities, notably its universe, its atmosphere and its survival aspect which are extremely well transcribed. Thus, the title attracts the covetousness of players and manages to achieve, in just a few hours, the best start of a video game in the entire history of the company Rebellion.
In just a few days, more than 1.5 million players were able to embark on this atomic adventure on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One (with a Day One appearance in the Game Pass which undoubtedly helped). On Twitter/X, Jason Kingsley, the company's CEO, published a press release to announce the news and thank the teams and the community.
