Since its official announcement on Nintendo Switch2, during the dedicated Nintendo Direct on April 2nd, CyberPunk2077 has been making headlines. The title is at the center of many concerns, from players and specialists who wonder if the title will be able to run on Nintendo's new console.
A few hours after the title's reveal, the specialized media Digital Foundry carried out its first analyses based on the announcement trailer. According to an initial report, the game would be in a rather worrying state, with quality drops at 540p and 24FPS.
Following this, CD Projekt Red officially confirmed that the game was still in active production, and that by the time the game was released, CyberPunk 2077 on Switch 2 would benefit from numerous improvements. The Polish studio even stated that their title would be one of the first Switch 2 games to be entitled to the famous DLSS.
Today, CD Projekt Red continues to reassure us, confirming that the game will not be a fiasco, like when it launched on PS4 and Xbox One in 2020.
CyberPunk 2077: do not repeat the mistakes of the past
Do you remember the game's release in December 2020? CyberPunk2077 was undoubtedly one of the biggest controversies in the history of video games, with unplayable PS4 and Xbox One versions. The disaster was so great that Sony and Microsoft had to remove the game from their respective Stores to prevent new players from purchasing a digital copy of it.
Millions of consumers filed refund requests that, for once, didn't even need to be justified. We were experiencing a crisis situation quite unprecedented in the history of video games.
Five years later, CD Projekt Red has managed to restore its image. Whether it's The Witcher IV or Project Orion (the sequel to CyberPunk 2077), these are two projects that are highly anticipated by the community and players. It has been a long road, but the Polish studio has not given up on offering numerous updates and free content to definitively correct the situation and finally offer a stable game.
So, it is not perfect and optimal either, with still some hiccups, even on PS5 and Xbox Series X, but the game is light years ahead of its launch state. The Netflix series CyberPunk Edgerunner in 2022 has helped a lot to revive the hype around the title and the license.
Even if CD Projekt has managed to get out of this bad patch and the confidence of the players seems to be back in their camp, the studio does not forget this period of crisis and does not intend to repeat the same mistakes, even less with CyberPunk 2077.
In an interview given to Game File, Tim Green, an engineer at CD Projekt Red, returned to the Switch 2 version of the game, confirming once again that the game will not be released in a deplorable state.
The engineer also specifies during the interview that the objective will be to offer a game in Full HD resolution in 1080p on Switch 2 in docked mode and in portable mode with the "quality" version of the title. Only performance mode in portable mode will offer 720p HD.
