French users have been enjoying all of Apple Intelligence's features since the launch of iOS 18.4 at the beginning of April. Until then, they could only envy their American counterparts, who have been able to use AI on iPhones since fall 2024.
Now that this major update is out, Apple is working on the next version of its operating system: iOS 18.5. The RC beta has just arrived on recent iPhones. This is an opportunity to learn more about the new features contained in this update.
Apple reveals the list of new features brought by iOS 18.5
The RC beta of iOS 18.5 gives a good overview of the new features that will be included in the final version of the update. iPhone 13 owners will be happy to know that they will soon have access to satellite communication. Until now, it was reserved for iPhone 14 and newer models.
Another important change, this time for parents. The iPhone's Screen Time feature is somewhat reminiscent of iOS 18.5. Parents will be able to receive a notification when the Screen Time passcode is entered on their child's device. Younger children will no longer be able to trick adults by falsifying their usage time.
iOS 18.5 also adds the ability to purchase content with the iPhone on the Apple TV app of a third-party smart TV and no longer only on an Apple TV box.
Apple is also launching the Pride 2025 collection for Pride Month. A new Pride Edition sport band for Apple Watch is available for pre-order. A matching dynamic watch face and wallpaper for iPhone and iPad will be available in the watchOS 11.5, iOS 18.5, and iPadOS 18.5 updates.
You've probably noticed that iOS 18.5 isn't as big an update as iOS 18.4. Apple is sticking with small changes for this version of its operating system. The public release of iOS 18.5 is expected to take place next week.
In a few weeks, Apple will unveil a much bigger update at WWDC 2025: iOS 19. Its design is said to be inspired by visionOS with translucent buttons and menus. Of course, many new features are expected. Real-time translation on AirPods is said to be among the new features in iOS 19.
