Three months after Country Returns HD, the iconic Donkey Kong made a very notable comeback as part of the Nintendo Direct dedicated to the Nintendo Switch 2. The Big N's simian mascot will return in force on the upcoming console on June 5, and it risks hurting a lot.
A Donkey Kong who has a banana breaks everything on Nintendo Switch 2
The least we can say is that Nintendo has struck a big blow with the presentation of the Nintendo Switch 2. We now know that it will be released on June 5, and will be accompanied a slew of games like FromSoftware's exclusive Duskbloods, or even improved versions of titles from the first Switch like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Among the big exclusives coming to the console, we were treated to a new 3D Donkey Kong game, called Bananza, among the latest announcements from the Nintendo Direct.
Our favorite monkey is back in a big-screen adventure, and in better shape than ever. We were able to see him wreak havoc in the levels he travels through. Donkey Kong also takes on a younger appearance, as if to illustrate all the passion highlighted by the trailer below for Bananza. This one will indeed use herculean strength to dig enormous holes, carry just about anything and throw with prodigious power. Hulk would potentially have something to worry about.
Unlike other titles presented during this big Nintendo Direct, Donkey Kong Bananza will however arrive with a little delay: July 17, 2025. The Japanese firm also announced the prices: 70 euros in digital format, and 80 euros in physical format.
