Free launches the Freebox Pop S and gives a gift to its fiber subscribers

A new Freebox is arriving this Tuesday (as luck would have it) and no one was expecting it. The operator has just announced the Freebox Pop S, a new offer that clearly targets users looking for a very fast Internet connection, and that's it. Indeed, this new "100% Internet without TV" offer offers nothing other than Internet access and is positioned opposite Bouygues Telecom's Pure Fiber box.

High speeds, Wi-Fi 7 and a low price

The Freebox Pop S, which uses the same casing as the Freebox Pop, boasts solid technical features. It offers up to 5 Gb/s shared download speeds and an upload speed of up to 900 Mbit/s. It is important to note that the 5 Gb/s download speeds are shared between the Ethernet ports and Wi-Fi, and that this Freebox does not have a 5 or 10 Gb/s port.

On the other hand, it does have three RJ45 Ethernet ports (1 Gb/s on two ports and 2.5 Gb/s on one port) and, above all, the latest Wi-Fi standard. Subscribers can take advantage of Wi-Fi 7 with wireless speeds of up to 2.2 Gb/s, potentially twice as fast as Wi-Fi 6, according to Free. To optimize wireless coverage throughout the home, Free also includes a Wi-Fi 7 repeater (on request) and this is a first on the market at this level from Free.

The announcement of the Freebox Pop S is also an opportunity for the ISP to relaunch the battle against Bouygues Telecom. While the latter has just attacked it for false advertising on Wi-Fi 7, Free assures that it becomes the first operator to integrate Wi-Fi 7 into such an extensive range of fixed-line offers, from this new Pop S to the Freebox Ultra.

Affordable price and subscriber benefits

Offered only online via the Free website, the Freebox Pop S is priced at 24.99 euros per month. A very competitive price for an offer that will not increase after one year, unlike the classic Freebox Pop (29.99 euros/month the first year, then 39.99 euros/month).

Freebox Pop S subscribers will also be able to take advantage of the Free Family benefit, allowing them to obtain the Free 5G Plan with unlimited data at a preferential rate: 9.99 euros/month for one year (then 15.99 euros/month) for up to four mobile lines.

Free is taking advantage of this announcement to give a gift to its existing Fiber subscribers. Indeed, the theoretical maximum upload speeds of the Freebox Pop (classic), Revolution and Delta offers are automatically and free of charge increased to 900 Mbit/s.

Who is the Freebox Pop S for?

The Freebox Pop S is aimed at a specific audience: those for whom the quality and speed of the Internet connection take precedence over TV packages, all at a low monthly price and without any commitment. Free specifies that new customers can subscribe today on free.fr, while existing eligible subscribers will be informed of the migration terms.
