In 2020, Sucker Punch offered us a new franchise with Ghost of Tsushima, a samurai game set in feudal Japan that told the adventures of Jin Sakai. After the Sly Cooper and inFamous games, Sucker Punch radically changed direction.
The game was relatively well received by players and the press. The game will be re-released on PS5 with a Director’s Cut, adding a lot of content. Four years after the title's release, Sucker Punch officially announced Ghost of Yotei during the State of Play in September 2024, confirming the arrival of a brand-new adventure on PS5 in 2025.

What is the release date for Ghost of Yotei?
Ghost of Yotei is Planned for 2025, without further details. Since the game's announcement in September, we haven't had any further information regarding the game's release. According to initial rumors, the title could arrive in August.
When a recent job offer was published (end of March 2024), Sucker Punch studio discreetly confirmed that the game was still expected for the end of 2025, without further details.
What platforms is the game expected on?
The game will be a PS5 exclusive. Of course, there's a good chance that it will be ported to PC from 2026 or 2027, like most PlayStation games in recent years. But, to date, the title is only planned for PS5.
What will be the price of Ghost of Yotei and its editions?
As of today (April 21, 2025), there is no official communication on this subject. Like most PlayStation games, there is a very good chance that Ghost of Yotei will be offered at 79.99 euros. However, there is no information on the potential special editions of the game, their price, and their content.
Do you have to have played Ghost of Tsushima to play this sequel?
No, because Ghost of Yotei is not a direct sequel. The game takes place 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima and Jin Sakai. It will therefore not be necessary to have played the first opus to discover and enjoy this sequel.
What do we know about the game's story?
For the moment, the information that has been communicated by Sony and Sucker Punch since the game's announcement is not very extensive. We know that the title takes place in 1603, 300 years after the events of Tsushima. The main character is a heroine named Atsu. She is a new heroine, unknown in the license, with whom we will explore a new area of Japan with Mount Yotei, now known as the prefecture of Hokkaido, which was formerly called Ezo and was still outside the borders of Japan.
At the beginning of April, via an update on the game's official website, we learned that Atsu's main motivations would be to avenge her family. Following a tragedy, she would then undertake a long journey through the lands bordering Mount Yotei, which will be "a wild territory composed of vast green expanses, icy tundras, and unexpected dangers.".
To carry out her revenge, Atsu will have to do several odd jobs to earn money, so she can craft resources, buy equipment, and continue on her way.
What will be the main new features of this sequel?
For the moment, very little information on this. We know that the title will notably offer new fighting styles, including new weapons (odachi, kusarigama, dual katanas). The game is also expected to feature improved gameplay and new mechanics.
To date, this information has not been further elaborated.
Will the game feature online multiplayer?
No information on this topic at this time, although it remains unlikely.
Will the game have DLC?
No information on this topic at this time.
Will the game be offered in PS Plus upon release?
Unfortunately, no. To date, PlayStation games are not released “Day One” in PS Plus. A trial lasting several hours will likely be offered, but we will likely have to wait more than a year and a half to see the title arrive in PS Plus.
