This is news that will please fans. Hollow Knight: Silksong, one of the most anticipated indie games of recent years, will indeed be released on the current Nintendo Switch. This confirmation comes at the right time, as some were beginning to fear the opposite after its recent appearance during the Nintendo Direct dedicated to the Switch 2.
The “classic” Switch Hollow Knight Silksong is not forgotten
The confusion stems from the fact that Hollow Knight Silksong was only shown as part of the Switch 2 presentation. As a result, some players thought that the version planned for the first Switch had been canceled. But don't panic. Matthew Griffin, marketing manager at Team Cherry, wanted to clarify things. In a message published on social networks, he confirmed that Silksong will be released on both Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. This should reassure those who aren't planning on switching consoles right away.
Since its announcement in 2019, Hollow Knight Silksong has been shrouded in mystery. The game was originally scheduled for release on PC and Switch, before the studio expanded its platforms to PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Despite several appearances at major events (Nintendo Direct, Xbox Showcase, etc.), no release date has ever been set.
Microsoft once suggested that Hollow Knight Silksong would arrive within 12 months of its presentation at E3 2022. But this schedule was not met. In May 2023, Team Cherry confirmed another delay, without providing any details. Today, the only concrete information is a release planned for 2025.
What are the differences between Switch and Switch 2?
For now, the developers have not detailed the differences between the two versions. We can still imagine some improvements on Switch 2: better resolution, more stable fluidity, and even shorter loading times. But the most important thing is that the game remains accessible to all Switch players. No need to wait for the next console to explore the world of Hollow Knight Silksong.
