Motorola presents its Edge 60 and 60 Pro, which complete the range launched by the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion, presented on April 2, 2025. They arrive alongside a first watch and new earphones. Let's take a look at the respective characteristics of these smartphones.
Edge 60 Pro: a premium smartphone that lacks almost nothing
The entire range is equipped with "quad-curved" screens, meaning they are curved on all four sides. This gives a smartphone with very thin edges and a little premium cachet completed by a vegan leather back.
For the 60 Pro, the screen measures 6.67 inches diagonally, displays a definition of 1220p, a little above Full HD and a peak brightness of 4500 nits. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i and the smartphone as a whole has an IP 68/69 certification. This means it is certified to be submerged in fresh water to a depth of 1.5 m for a period of 30 minutes.
Regarding photography, the device integrates three rear photo modules, a wide angle (50 Mpx), an ultra wide angle (50 Mpx, macro) and a telephoto lens (equivalent X3, 10 Mpx) and a 50 Mpx selfie sensor.
The smartphone introduces new features:
- Signature style, which allows you to create a filter from a photo you've taken;
- AI group photo, which will ensure everyone has their eyes open in a group photo with up to 10 people.
In terms of battery life, the smartphone has a 6000 mAh carbon silicon battery. Enough to see what's coming, the brand promises 1.5 to 2 days of use. We'll check all of this during the test using the 01lab tools. The battery is powered by 90W charging (charger not included) and 15W wireless charging.
In terms of performance, the smartphone is based on a 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Extreme chip, accompanied by 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.
Motorola Edge 60
The Motorola Edge 60 broadly follows the foundations laid by the Pro. It gives up a little bit on the photo with a telephoto lens offering a digital zoom only up to X30, compared to X50 on the Pro. Let's be clear, this isn't a huge concession.
The battery also loses a little capacity, dropping to 5200 mAh and the loss of wireless charging. Nothing too serious then. The chip should be slightly slower, since we're moving to a Dimensity 7300. On the other hand, the smartphone will be able to add the services of a microSD card up to 1 TB, useful for expanding the already generous storage space of 512 GB.
An update duration that raises questions, counterbalanced by AI
Both smartphones therefore have good arguments. On paper, their technical specifications allow them to claim to compete with the giants of the sector. But we quickly forget that Motorola is often a little stingy when it comes to update coverage times. And the Motorola Edge 60 confirms the adage, with 3 years of major updates and 4 years of security updates.
The problem becomes even more serious when we look at the interface delivered out of the box. Indeed, both smartphones are shipped with Android 15. However, Android 16 should not be too long in coming. So we technically lose a year and the Motorola Edge 60 will virtually only be entitled to 2 years of major updates. This is a bit short when Samsung and Google go up to 6 and 7 years respectively.
To make up for lost time, Motorola is now integrating its suite of AI features into these two smartphones. Moto AI 2.0 offers a variety of fairly standard, yet effective options, such as Next Move, which suggests contextual actions based on what you're viewing on the screen, or image or playlist creation tools. Even more interesting, the manufacturer is the first to form a partnership with Perplexity, in addition to the classic partnership with Google Gemini. Purchasing the smartphone also entitles you to 3 months of Google One Premium and 3 months of Perplexity Pro.
Motorola Edge 60 Price and Availability
Both smartphones will be available around mid-May. The Motorola Edge 60 retails for €479, while the Motorola Edge 60 Pro retails for €699.
