Luffy perfectly embodies the role of leader of the Straw Hat Pirates. But he's not necessarily better at everything! When you think about it, his loyal friend Zoro has many abilities that he doesn't. Indeed, while Luffy has charisma and power, his friend is definitely better at these 5 points.
#1 Fighting without supernatural power
Zoro has never mattered on a devil fruit. From the beginning, he forged his power through training and willpower. Even in a world populated by beings with strange powers, he rose to become among the strongest with his swordsmanship alone.
Luffy, on the other hand, ate the Gomu Gomu no Mi at a very young age. His rubber powers became his trademark. But without them, his fighting style would be completely different.
#2 Using the Asura
Zoro still possesses an ability almost mystical: the Asura. When he activates this technique, he appears to transform into a demon with nine arms and three heads. The phenomenon is fueled by his willpower and his exceptional Haki. In addition to strengthening his power of intimidation, this allows him to wield nine swords simultaneously and considerably increase his power. Luffy has different forms with his Gear, but Zoro's Asura is unique. No other member of the crew can match this level.
#3 Keep calm and be strict with the crew
In the crew, Zoro plays a very important role in moderating tensions. During times of conflict, he knows how to stay calm and make difficult decisions calmly. Also, he doesn't hesitate to reframe his comrades if necessary. For example, Alabasta was the one who insisted on respecting Vivi's decision. In Water 7, he was the one who asked Luffy to act with authority after Usopp's betrayal. His sense of duty is essential to maintaining order on board. And Luffy, with his impulsiveness, sometimes needs that counterbalance.
#4 Mastery of Swordsmanship
Zoro has always dreamed of becoming the best swordsman in the world! This ambition drives him to constantly push his limits. His Santoryu style, which uses three swords simultaneously, is particularly impressive and formidable. Luffy, although admiring swordsmen, remains incapable of wielding a sword properly. During the Wano arc, he actually had difficulty mastering the Nidai Kitetsu.
#5 Swimming in the open sea
Eating a Devil Fruit comes at a price: the sea becomes a mortal danger. Luffy therefore cannot swim. As soon as he falls into the water, he sinks like a stone. Zoro, on the other hand, retains his ability to swim. More than once, he has saved crew members in distress using this skill. His strength and mastery of freediving make him an ocean ace. Although Jinbe is now the group's primary swimmer, Zoro remains an excellent backup in times of need.
