Predator Badlands: Trailer teases huge change, possible crossover

Predator: Badlands is revealed. The film, which is to be preceded by a secret film planned for 2025, will be directed by Dan Trachtenberg, already acclaimed for Prey. This new installment promises to be one of the most original in the franchise, both in terms of its atmosphere and its protagonist, who should be very different from his predecessors.

A Predator like no other

From the first images, the trailer sets the mood: distressing music, desert landscapes, strange creatures, and spectacular battles. Badlands will showcase a Predator unlike any other. Far from the relentless and solitary hunter to which the saga has accustomed us, the new Predator is a young member of his species, rejected by his own clan. A situation initiated in the trailer, which suggests a new dynamic for the monster.

An unexpected alliance

Besides the depth of its protagonist, the surprise of the trailer lies in the dynamic between the Predator and the heroine, Thia, played by Elle Fanning. Unlike in previous films, the human and the Predator will have to form an unlikely alliance to survive on a hostile planet. The official synopsis confirms this direction: “In the future, on an isolated planet, a young Predator, excluded from his clan, finds an unlikely ally in Thia and embarks on a perilous journey in search of the ultimate adversary“. It remains to be seen who this ultimate adversary is.

On this point, the answer is perhaps in one of the striking elements of the trailer: the (very) numerous winks to the Aliensaga. We notably see the Weyland-Yutani logo on a damaged vehicle, and Thia's eyes display the same effect as Andy's android in Alien: Romulus, suggesting that she might not be entirely human. This opens the door to further speculation, where Badlands would become the starting point for a new film Alien vs. Predator.

A more intimate film, but still just as explosive

With Predator: Badlands, Dan Trachtenberg continues to explore the Predator universe by focusing on a more intimate approach. The story, centered on survival and the alliance between two outcasts – a marginalized Predator and an isolated human – promises to renew the franchise's mythology. The first images suggest a breathtaking survival, in the tradition of an already successful franchise. cult classic.

Scheduled for theatrical release on November 5, 2025, Predator: Badlands could well offer the revival fans have been waiting for.
