The weeks go by, but they all seem the same for PC gamers eager for a good deal. GOG, the Epic Games Store, Steam, open and closed betas—there's already plenty to do to play without breaking the bank. And yet Amazon and its Prime Gaming offering have now become essential in this area. The e-commerce giant offers around twenty free games every month, which are then kept provided they are claimed on time. So it's time for your refresher, as several games will soon be leaving the service.
Six free Prime Gaming games will soon become paid again
Nothing lasts forever, not even free Prime Gaming games. While Steam and the Epic Games Store let their users claim their gifts for only a few days, it takes weeks or even months with Amazon's service. The concept is simple. The streaming giant offers a handful of games rolled out weekly, and subscribers have until the allotted time to claim them. Once claimed, the titles are kept for life. There's always a bit of everything, from excellent independent productions and big-name games to more obscure classics. So you only have a few days left before the six free Prime Gaming games in the list below become permanently paid.
Last chance for these free games
- DreadOut 2: Third-person open-world survival horror game inspired by Indonesian urban legends. You play as Linda, a high school student who can see ghosts and must hunt them.
- Legacy of Kain Defiance: a cult classic for some players that takes you back to the corrupted world of Nosgoth, where the disfigured specter Raziel pursues his creator, the vampire lord Kain. Liters of blood, swords, sorcery... it's all there.
- Mortal Shell: Souls-like action-RPG game that made a bit of a splash when it was released. A challenging dark fantasy title in which the enemies will be formidable and show no mercy.
- Mutazione: the free Prime Gaming game in this selection that has received the best reviews. In this narrative adventure game, players explore a supernatural community as a teenage girl who enters its strange world to care for her grandfather.
- Projection First Light: Another well-received indie title with a strong narrative focus. Here, you play as Greta, a young girl living in a mythological world depicted in shadow puppets. A journey across cultures, a quest for self-realization, and some legendary heroes await.
- Wolfenstein The Old Blood: Last chance for one of the biggest free games available right now with Prime Gaming. A prequel, where the Nazis are about to win World War II and it's up to good old B.J. Blazkowicz to go and kill them. A very good FPS that can still be picked up for free with Prime Gaming, on both PC and Xbox.
