Last December, to celebrate PlayStation's 30th anniversary, Sony rolled out an update on PS5 that added a few surprises for players and fans, including the arrival of four retro themes in the colors of the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4. As well as a startup screen displaying the "PlayStation 30th Anniversary" logo, echoing the startup sound of the first PlayStation.
Unfortunately, after just under two months of joy and nostalgia, PlayStation deprived players of its new features. Faced with the great disappointment of a very large part of the community, Sony promised to give us back the retro themes "soon". It is now done, the themes will be back later today with the new console update.
The new update PS5 Update
The return of retro themes isn't the only new feature that will accompany the new update (which will be deployed today) on PS5. Sony is offering us a new feature new, with advanced audio adjustment that will amplify sounds according to your hearing preferences. This feature provides greater accessibility to audio experiences.
Via this feature, you have access to preset settings, or you will be able to modify everything yourself. These settings make it easier to distinguish sounds like in-game character dialogue, subtle sound effects like footsteps or rustling grass, and the voices of Party chat members, further immersing you in games. This feature allows you to access four presets for sound amplification:
- Boost Bass:Emphasize low frequencies, such as engine roars or rumbles.
- Boost Voices:Emphasize voice chat and character voices, but also mid-range frequencies.
- Boost Treble:Emphasize high frequencies, such as footsteps and metallic sounds.
- Boost Quieter:Emphasize less audible sounds across a wide frequency range.
Regarding themes, these will also offer the sound effects related to the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4 themes. Unfortunately, the "PlayStation 30th Anniversary" splash screen is not expected to return.
