Good news for Star Wars and tactical game fans. Electronic Arts has just announced Star Wars Zero Company, a brand new turn-based single-player game. It will be released on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. No release date yet, but a proper presentation is already planned in a few days.
A single-player, tactical, and strategy-focused game for Star Wars
Exit the lightsabers in frenetic action mode. Zero Company is focusing on a completely different genre: turn-based strategy. A genre that is still rare in the Star Wars universe, but which could well appeal to a new audience. The project is in good hands. This is the famous game being developed by Bit Reactor, a studio made up of veterans of tactical games (including former XCOM players), with the help of Respawn Entertainment, already known for Jedi: Fallen Order.
In other words, this new Star Wars will not be a simple spin-off. It promises to be an experience designed for fans of reflection, difficult decisions, and calm combat. For now, we remain hungry. No trailer, no glimpse of the gameplay. Just a confirmation: Star Wars Zero Company does indeed exist, with artwork.
Fortunately, the wait will not be long. The game will be presented in more detail on April 19 during SWCelebration Japan. A dedicated panel will bring together Bit Reactor, Respawn Entertainment, and Lucasfilm Games to reveal the first visuals and probably some game mechanics. That's when we'll really know what to expect.
A bold bet for the license
This new title strays from the beaten track. For many years, the Star Wars saga has mostly accustomed us to action, FPS, or narrative RPGs. Here, we're talking strategy, turn-based gameplay, and a 100% single-player adventure. A surprising choice? Not so much. With the success of games like XCOM or Mario + Rabbids, the genre has found its audience. SW could bring its style, iconic characters, and unique atmosphere to it.
