While the post-apocalyptic is currently in the wind with the launch of season 2 of The Last of Us at Max and the PC port of The Last of Us 2 Remastered, Steam is adding another layer with another video game monument of the genre. However, leaving the United States and heading to the bowels of the Russian capital of Moscow in the company of 4A Games and Deep Silver, with Metro 2033 Redux.
This is the very first opus of the adaptation of the eponymous and world-renowned novel by Dmitry Glukhovsky, originally released in 2010 on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG.com) and consoles. We play as Artyom, a young man who knew the world before the nuclear bombs fell on Moscow (and probably the world?). To survive, the population had to take refuge in the Moscow metro and recreate a form of civilization there. Ravaged by radiation and populated by terrifying monstrosities, the surface is extremely dangerous for humans. But it is also where we can find the rarest resources to maintain life in the metro. Thus begins our adventure in this very special universe.
The Redux version of the game, released in 2014 on PC platforms like Steam and consoles, allows you to take advantage of the features of the second opus, Last Light. namely a more devious AI, more accomplished controls, animations and weapon management, a more accessible or difficult experience depending on the needs, and revised graphics. This is clearly the best version of this title from 4A Games acclaimed by players and critics.
