The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion: Very good news confirmed for the other free remake

Given all the rumors circulating, we were eagerly awaiting the announcement of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered. This week, Bethesda decided to unveil and even release this reworked version of the cult 2006 game. However, we shouldn't forget this other overhaul project that has been underway for several years. The arrival of the official game had cause for concern about this upcoming free remake. But, the teams shared some good news.

The future free Oblivion threatened? It wouldn't be anything

The nostalgia of some fans is such that they are ready to go to great lengths to revive the experience of games they loved in the past. More recent installments of the same license are then often the opportunity to rebuild the old title in the new one thanks to modding. We saw it for example for GTA Vice City in Grand Theft Auto 4. It is also currently the case with TES 4 Oblivion in Skyrim through a project still in progress called " Skyblivion.

However, the official release of The Elder Scrolls 4 remaster could have worried fans and the development team. Imagine the latter's surprise when Bethesda offered them keys to this new version of Oblivion! Thus, the members working on Skyblivion have the pleasure of also immersing themselves in Tamriel and appreciating the work done on this overhaul.

Moreover, the Skyblivion team has good news for all those who are waiting for this free mod for Skyrim. On the social network X.com (formerly Twitter), the project leader confirmed that “ its release is still relevant. If we refer to its previous statements of April 15, this fanmade remake of The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion would still be on track to be offered during 2025.

Skyblivion should therefore indeed see the light of day on PC after 13 years of passionate work. Bethesda would not intend to put a spoke in the wheels of the volunteer team, unlike certain Rockstar Games or Nintendo who do not really appreciate this kind of unofficial initiative. which marks a positive turning point in publisher-fan relations.
