The next State of Play confirmed and we have a date

It's a piece of information that leaked a little too early, but it had plenty of time to excite fans. The star of PlayStation's next State of Play saw key information revealed ahead of time. A timing that, clearly, is no coincidence... In the process, we had confirmation of the arrival of the next PlayStation presentation.

A big leak of the next State of Play

Update: PlayStation has made it official that the next State of Play will indeed be dedicated to to the FPS Borderlands 4. The event will be held on Wednesday, April 30th at 11 p.m. Paris time. We will be entitled to 20 minutes of gameplay.

It was via a tweet (quickly deleted) from Randy Pitchford, the boss of Gearbox, that we learned the news of a State of Play announcement: Borderlands 4 would finally arrive on September 12, 2025, two weeks ahead of the window previously mentioned. Even if the message was deleted immediately, the machine was already launched on social media.

The official announcement shouldn't be long in coming, however. PlayStation is preparing a new State of Play, and Borderlands 4 will be heavily featured, it's confirmed. We can expect a real presentation of the game, with gameplay, a full trailer, and above all the confirmation (or not) of this famous date.

A change that is not a coincidence

This change of schedule is undoubtedly not insignificant. Many see it as an attempt to get a little ahead of the GTA 6 storm, also expected at Fall 2025. It's best to avoid direct confrontation with such a giant. Especially since other major titles are also expected during this very busy period.

This slight slip-up isn't really surprising for those who follow the industry. This isn't Randy Pitchford's first impulsive tweet, and his very direct communication has often been talked about. This time again, he seems to have skipped the official communication priority... much to the delight of the curious. In short, let's wait and see the State of Play, which seems imminent. But the source is obviously more than serious.
