The White Lotus: Is a season 4 on the cards?

After the success of The White Lotus season 3, HBO has already officially announced the arrival of a fourth batch of episodes. There's no suspense here, the series is one of the most popular on the platform, so it was only logical that Mike White decided to return for a new season.

An early renewal

The enthusiasm was such that even before the explosive finale of season 3 aired in Thailand, HBO and Max had already gave the green light for a fourth season of The White Lotus. An early renewal is a testament to the critical and public success of the series, winner of 15 Emmy Awards. The recipe promises to remain the same as in the first seasons: a dream setting, wealthy clients, suspicious employees and, in the background, a mysterious death against a whodunit backdrop. After Hawaii, Sicily and Thailand, the series is however preparing to radically change the atmosphere.

A European setting

Mike White, creator and showrunner of the series, has confirmed that he wants to move away from the sea and waves for season 4. Europe is the big favorite, and several sources are talking about a partnership with the Four Seasons hotel chain. France is in pole position to serve as the macabre setting for the next episodes, but other European cities remain in the running. The only certainty: the plot will take place in a more urban setting.

Casting: the mystery remains

No official announcement has been made regarding the casting. Jon Gries (Greg) is the only actor to have appeared in all seasons and should therefore logically return. Natasha Rothwell (Belinda) has also been mentioned for a possible return, especially after the outcome of season 3. Mike White does not rule out the possibility of bringing back other familiar faces, even if tradition dictates that each season offers a largely renewed cast.

Season 3, in Thailand, focused on Eastern spirituality. For season 4, Europe could offer fertile ground for new intrigues, far from seaside clichés. Murder will remain at the heart of the plot, giving pride of place to societal criticism, the dark humor and suspense, true trademarks of the show since its beginnings.

Broadcast: not right away

In the meantime, you'll have to be patient: filming for season 4 won't begin before 2026, with production taking the time to choose the ideal destination and refine the script. The broadcast could therefore take place at the very end of 2026, or even in 2027.

In summary

  • Season 4 of The White Lotus has officially been ordered, with production scheduled for 2026
  • Exit the paradisiacal beaches, the setting will be European, and perhaps even French
