A few days ago, Microsoft shared the list of games that are joining the Game Pass for the second half of the month, going until the beginning of March. But the firm forgot to mention the arrival of a little gem in the catalog. As a gift for subscribers, Dead Island 2 has been playable via the service since today, at no extra cost to subscribers.
However, it is not available everywhere. Indeed, it is the console and cloud version that joins the other games offered. Many players say they are disappointed that the PC version was not taken into account in the calculation. As has happened a few times, the latter may still be added in a few months, in a slightly more official way this time. If players are so frustrated, it is because the game is currently only playable via the Epic Games launcher. Many are waiting for the game to be released on Steam on April 22, since it is the most used platform in the PC ecosystem.
You don't change a winning team
Dead Island 2 is a multiplayer adventure game the linear story in which zombie-killing becomes a new passion. With its crazy atmosphere and colorful look, the game manages to immerse us in a particularly dangerous, but fun, apocalyptic Los Angeles. Dead Island is known for its visual side and blood splatters, the second opus offers plenty of them. Released in early 2023, it had won over the press and players, without really taking off. Landing on Game Pass will perhaps allow it to find its audience and revive interest in the title.
This release follows the free play days that Dead Island 2 enjoyed. From February 15 to 19, players were able to discover it on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Game Pass Core. If it was available for purchase right after this free trial, we hope that you are not one of the players who cracked too early. It was accompanied by CodeVein, Warstride Challenges and Nickelodeon All Star Brawl 2. None of these other games have joined the Game Pass catalog.
Will you succumb to the expansion DLC?
The version offered to players is of course the base version. If you don't buy it separately, you won't have access to the DLC released at the end of last year. Called HAUS, it adds macabre environments to explore, including a cursed Malibu villa. This expansion is also available through the Gold Edition of Dead Island 2.
