10 years later, Flappy Bird makes its big comeback on Android

In 2013, Flappy Bird was released, a small mobile game that quickly became a sensation, exceeding 50 million downloads. Designed by Vietnamese developer Dong Nguyen, the title generated up to US$50,000 per day for its creator. But overwhelmed by events (accusations of plagiarism and addictive effect), he removed the game from app stores and stopped support on all platforms after a few months, in February 2014.

Last year, surprise: Flappy Bird was back. Except that this new version was only a shadow of its illustrious predecessor. It was also heavily criticized for integrating Web3 elements, including cryptocurrency. Dong Nguyen, the original creator, declared at the time that he had no connection with this project.

Flappy Bird returns to Android, not yet to iOS

Today, Flappy Bird is back once again, but in a new form. Monetization is generated “solely through advertising and in-app purchases”, promises Flappy Bird Publishing, which has recovered the rights to the brand. We are therefore rid of all elements related to blockchain and cryptocurrency wallets.

For now, Flappy Bird 2025 is only available on Android, not iOS. No need to rush to the Play Store after reading this, the game is not there. Download and installation must be done from the Epic Games Store, which launched its own launcher for mobile games a few months ago. The store offers free games every month, similar to its weekly PC game giveaway program. As a reminder, the mobile Epic Games Store is only available on iOS in Europe, which probably explains the lack of an iPhone version.

The developers announce new worlds, characters, and challenges compared to the first game, as well as updates Regular updates to bring fresh content to players. Known at the time for its difficulty, will you dare to embark on the Flappy Bird adventure?
