While we recently offered you a full preview of Anno 117 Pax Romana on Gameblog, Ubisoft continues to inspire with a brand new six-minute gameplay video. The Ubisoft Mainz studio reveals the first concrete images of this new episode, expected in 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series, PC (via Steam, Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store), as well as on the Luna service.
An immersion in the heart of Rome for Anno 117 Pax Romana
This time, the series takes a step forward. For the first time in an Anno, the player is no longer content to manage a colony from the skies. He embodies a character: a newly appointed governor within the Roman Empire. This new perspective radically changes the game's approach, emphasizing the direct experience of Roman life, both lavish and complex. In short, Anno 117 Pax Romana thinks big.
The video presents a variety of environments, ranging from grand amphitheaters animated by naumachia (those spectacular naval reenactments) to the wild marshes of Celtic Albion. This strong contrast underlines the cultural and geographical richness that players will have to administer, explore and dominate.
Gameplay faithful to the DNA of Anno, but renewed
Visually, Anno 117 Pax Romana remains true to the refined aesthetic that the series has always cultivated. The buildings, crowds, and settings benefit from impressive details, with particular attention paid to the depiction of daily Roman life.
But what is most intriguing is this new narrative and embodied dimension. Ubisoft seems to want to strengthen immersion by giving the player a voice and a more concrete role, beyond the traditional economic and management mechanics.
However, the classic foundations of the license are still there: resource management, urban development, trade, diplomacy, and territorial expansion. This mix of tradition and novelty could well appeal to both historical fans and newcomers. Anno 117 Pax Romana seems to hit the mark.
