Are you waiting for Resident Evil 1 Remake? We have news that might disappoint you.

The Resident Evil saga continues to thrill its fans. After the success of the remake of the fourth installment, a new original installment is now eagerly awaited. However, several other productions are reportedly being prepared in the shadows. They too have something to make even the most voracious fans salivate. However, rumors and hopes sometimes lead to expectations that can lead to disappointment. This may be the case for many, according to a very reputable insider in the community.

A remake of Resident Evil that would never see the light of day

Since its inception, the Resident Evil saga has been the subject of numerous iterations, whether in the form of remasters or remakes. The latter have especially experienced a significant boom since the release of the remake of the second installment in 2019. Capcom has indeed followed up with a new version of RE 3: Nemesis and RE 4. From then on, fans expect to see other installments return to the forefront.

Rumors are therefore rife around the next productions of the license to come. Between two echoes around Resident Evil 9, the remakes are making a lot of noise. The next one to come would certainly be that of the fifth installment, starring Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar. However, some were hoping that another game would also be entitled to its modernized remake.

Unfortunately, insider Dusk Golem has bad news for all those who were waiting for a remake of the very first RE. On the social network X, he admits: "To my knowledge, no remake of Resident Evil 1 is currently in the works." It must be said that this seminal opus already received a dusting off in 2002, which fans renamed "Rebirth." But, since then, a next-gen version would not be a bad thing. Nevertheless, it does not seem to be a priority for Capcom.

Dusk Golem does not entirely dash fans' hopes. Having followed the news of the franchise for years, he often hears about projects that have come to fruition. Although he sometimes makes mistakes, he has learned to gauge Capcom's ambitions. In this sense, he believes that if a remake of the prequel RE:0 did indeed materialize, as well as that of Code Veronica that so many fans are calling for, the first Resident Evil would probably follow the trend. Therefore, not everything is dead.
