Ubisoft is beginning to lift the veil on the future of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and the least we can say is that the publisher has planned something to keep players busy for the long term. Free quests, gameplay updates, new features, and even a free expansion are on the agenda.
Content coming to Assassin’s Creed Shadows in May
This news was revealed via a new video. Players of Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be able to discover a new quest: The Writings of Luís Fróis. Inspired by a true historical figure, this 16th-century Portuguese Jesuit was one of the first Europeans to describe contemporary Japan. A dive into a more intimate story, which brings a little more context to the game's universe.
At the same time, Ubisoft is planning a codex update, some comfort adjustments, and an overhaul of the photo mode. The latter will offer new filters, varied poses, facial expressions, and even an option to turn off the background music. Enough to capture your best scenes in style in Assassin's Creed Shadows.
A more nervous and vertical parkour
At the end of May, an update focused on movement will enrich the experience of Assassin's Creed Shadows. Ubisoft announces improved high jumps, lateral and vertical ejections, and the ability to grab onto canopies or low ledges, even without momentum. A welcome return to a more fluid parkour style, similar to that of previous installments.
June will also bring its share of new features. A new quest will allow you to recruit an additional ally into your League. New difficulty settings will also be introduced, some designed for players looking for a tougher challenge in Assassin's Creed Shadows.
Ubisoft will also add immersion options. These include an open-world alert system, the ability to display headgear during cutscenes, and tweaks to refine the interface. Small touches that show the attention paid to the gaming experience.
The summer promises to be rich
Starting in July, other additions will expand the content of Assassin's Creed Shadows. The highly anticipated New Game Plus mode will make its debut. It will allow you to restart a game while maintaining your progress, while pushing the level cap beyond 60. Ubisoft also plans updates based on player feedback, new narrative elements, special collaborations, Animus-related content, as well as new rewards.
The highlight of this first year will be Claws of Awaji, an expansion that will continue the story of Naoe and Yasuke after the epilogue of the main game. It will be free for players who pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
In addition to a new region to explore, this content will bring side quests, new enemies, a new weapon for Naoe, the bō, a combat staff, as well as additional skills. Enough to revive interest in the game several months after its release.
