Four weeks ago, Ubisoft unveiled an ambitious roadmap for the first year of Assassin's Creed Shadows. The program included new content, including new quests and a first DLC called "The Claws of Awaji." This roadmap also highlighted several highly anticipated improvements, some of which will be integrated into a major update planned for the end of May 2025/are integrated into the brand new update available.
Assassin's Creed Shadows deploys a new update with anticipated content
Ubisoft is deploying patch 1.0.5 for Assassin's Creed Shadows this May 27, 2025. Upon installing the update, players will have access to "Thrown to the Dogs," a mission previously reserved for pre-orders. In this touching side quest, players must help a faithful dog avenge his murdered master. Completing it will unlock Tsuki-maru, a canine companion to place in your hideout. The mission starts as soon as you complete "From Spark to Flame," and can be found at Tennoji Temple, on the outskirts of Osaka.
The Assassin's Creed Shadows update also introduces Balatro-inspired items, a trinket for Naoe and an amulet for Yasuke, called "Winning Hand." They have a legendary effect that triggers a random debuff at the end of a combo. Ubisoft, however, leaves it up to players to discover how to obtain them on their own, adding a welcome touch of mystery.
Better parkour
This is an improvement awaited by many fans of Assassin’s Creed Shadows: the parkour system benefits from several adjustments that significantly improve the fluidity of movement. The most important is the addition of a new vertical jump, allowing Naoe and Yasuke to climb ledges and canopies more easily, without needing a nearby wall. Simply jump when approaching an overhang for the character to automatically reach it.
Another notable change is that sprinting is no longer deactivated during Parkour Up or Down transitions, which reinforces the continuity of movements. The lateral and backward bounces have also been revised to be more dynamic and realistic, particularly for Naoe, who benefits from new animations allowing her to stay higher for longer during her acrobatics.
A photo mode that's a pleasure for Assassin's Creed Shadows
Ubisoft is offering here the most ambitious update to the photo mode ever seen in an Assassin's Creed game. It's now possible to change the time of day in Assassin's Creed Shadows, choose poses and facial expressions, remove or replace headgear, and even play music while editing. Filters can be saved, some settings can be reset individually, and camera speed can be adjusted. On PC, a full-screen mode is also being introduced. In short, enough to capture feudal Japan from every angle, with true artistic freedom.
Fixes in the lot
Ubisoft is taking the opportunity to fix a large number of bugs that affected stability or progression in certain quests in Assassin's Creed Shadows. Problems such as saving at level 60, unjustified desynchronization alert messages or blocked quests (like "Vision of Realms", "Diary of Lady Rokkaku" or "Showdown in Sakamoto") are now resolved. Bugs related to the economy, romances, inventory, and hideouts have also been fixed.
The studio has also rebalanced the economy of Assassin's Creed Shadows. Some equipment was giving too much Mon, making other sources of income obsolete. The price of materials and resources in shops has been increased, but the rewards for contracts have been increased to compensate. The idea is to encourage more exploration and completing activities in the open world.
Patch size varies considerably between media: approximately 3.3 GB on PS5, 19 GB on Xbox Series, 13 GB on PC, 4.3 GB on Steam, and 9 GB on Mac.
