With the exception of minor updates, Larian Studios' work on Baldur's Gate 3 is officially complete. The independent studio is already working on two upcoming C-RPGs, which are expected to be "extremely ambitious." Among them, we could be treated to a certain Divinity 3, or at least some form of sequel to the excellent Divinity Original Sin 2. At least, that's what fans have interpreted following a brief, meaningful change on Larian Studios' X.com account.
A Divinity 3 after Baldur's Gate 3? Larian calms things down
Before the absolute GOTY 2023 that is Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios had mainly distinguished itself in the RPG field with the sprawling Divinity franchise. We already know that the cheerful Belgians are already in the kitchen to concoct two new C-RPGs of which it has the secret, with "great freedom given to players" and a rich narrative. Among these two games, many fans hope that a Divinity 3 is indeed in the pipeline.
In this regard, the official X.com account of Larian Studios changed its name a few days ago, briefly calling itself "Divinity". This did not fail to generate great excitement among fans, who saw this as a sign that a Divinity 3 would indeed be in the works. Michael Douse (Very AFK on X.com), publishing director at Larian Studios, however, issued a message to temper their ardor. "It's still too early to tell. But we have a lot of pots on the stove, and we'll see where our cooking takes us."
The name change of the Larian Studios account to "Divinity" would in reality be "part of the process of taking inventory of what we own and what we haven't yet declared as ours regarding our intellectual properties." Larian Studios would therefore be in the process of evaluating the situation to get a better idea of its future. However, it seems quite likely that this will give pride of place to the highly anticipated Divinity 3, a license very dear to the heart of Larian Studios, and which also allowed it to be spotted by Wizards of the Coast to develop Baldur's Gate 3. However, we will have to be patient to really know what the studio is preparing for its next crazy adventures.
