The news surrounding Assassin’s Creed hasn’t been slowing down in recent days. After the grand launch of Assassin’s Creed Shadows on March 20, which attracted more than 3 million players in just one week, the news has been coming thick and fast.
We learned from insiders that several remake, remaster, and/or spin-off projects were in the works, and that the multiplayer project Assassin’s Creed Codename Invictus was expected this year. That a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag was expected for 2026.
That the next major game, Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe would be expected for the end of 2027. A remake of the very first game, from 2007, would also be in the pipeline.
Today, we learned that it is the LIVE Action series, which was announced in 2020, which is still in production. The future looks intense for the Ubisoft saga.
Assassin’s Creed: the Netflix LIVE Action series is not abandoned
It is in a recent article, on the media Game Life, that we learned that the LIVE Action adaptation of Assassin’s Creed, as a series, on Netflix, has still not been abandoned and that its production continues. According to the site, which relayed an exchange with Alain Tascan, Netflix’s gaming director, the project is still on the agenda.
To go even further, Game Life confirms that the Live Action Assassin’s Creed series at Netflix is in active development. Suggesting that it has passed the pre-production stage and that things should now accelerate. Since its announcement in 2020, we have had almost no information around the series.
For a short time, screenwriter Jeb Stuart (Die Hard) seemed to gravitate towards the project. This would not be the first time that an Assassin's Creed project has fallen through at Netflix. In 2017, a first animated project was announced. The latter was quietly abandoned.
A story to follow regarding this LIVE Action series. If it is truly in active development, we should have very good news in the coming weeks.
