A success that, unfortunately, does not necessarily attract the attention of only well-intentioned people, which is pushing the studio to warn players.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 at the heart of a series of scams
If you've played Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, then you've probably also fallen under the spell of Esquie, this adorable (but imposing) masked creature. And so, you're probably also tempted to treat yourself to one of those beautiful plush toys of his that are currently proliferating online. If that's the case: don't do it! In a recent press release, Sandfall revealed that these are in no way official products, and that they could even be outright scams.
"We've noticed the appearance of a number of suspicious websites claiming to sell Esquie plush toys. It made us go whooo," say the creators of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. "To be clear: third-party sites that sell Esquie plush toys are NOT officially licensed. Many of them use AI-generated illustrations to advertise, and we strongly advise against purchasing from these sources." These could be scams.".
News that will delight fans
However, the studio still has some good news to share. "But here's the wheee to balance the whooo" it continues. "We're looking to make official Esquie plush toys, and we want to bring them to you as soon as possible. In the meantime, be patient and don't get scammed!". So be patient, because officially licensed products are on the way. But we didn't really doubt that, given the success of Clair Obscur Expedition 33, for which a film adaptation has already been confirmed.
