Cybertek is a French chain that sells pre-assembled PCs from a catalog. It also offers custom water-cooling configurations upon request, a unique feature in France. We were able to get our hands on one of the brand's computers to judge for ourselves.
While gaming laptops are all the rage, nothing beats a good old tower for playing in perfect conditions. There's always the option of assembling it yourself, but some retail sites offer pre-established configurations, or even custom ones. Ideal for those who don't have the time or inclination to get their hands dirty, but want to have a nice machine.
Top Achat, LDLC, Grosbill, there are many players on the market. Among them, Cybertek. This Bordeaux-based company offers pre-assembled computers, and even custom watercooling configurations for those who want the best of the best. We were able to test one to see what it's worth, a PC named White Coffee.
What is Cybertek?
Cybertek is a company founded in 1996 by two engineering students passionate about computers. Today, it has 17 stores on the Atlantic coast, but the real showcase is the website on which it sells peripherals, components, laptops, but above all pre-assembled machines. An online configurator (unfortunately cumbersome compared to those of the competition) is also available to create your own concoctions if necessary. In its 5,000 square meter warehouse, the company stores and assembles the configurations it sells itself. Everything is done on site.
The target audience is undoubtedly gamers, with an average basket around 1,500 euros for desktop PCs, even if much cheaper machines are available on the site. What really sets Cybertek apart from its competitors are its unique and customizable configurations sold online. Predefined configurations featuring popular video games (the result of partnerships with publishers) can be purchased, and some PCs can also benefit from customization options, such as engraving on the glass cover.
Moreover, Cybertek is the only manufacturer in France to design custom watercooled PCs, sold in their own section. These "brutasse" machines are primarily intended for those looking for performance without budget limits. The brand lent us a copy, called the White Coffee, to judge the quality of the assembly.
How are custom PCs assembled?
All PCs are assembled on site. When designing a new configuration, a Golden Sample is established, then tested in all directions for a week to ensure that there are no technical issues. Subsequently, the other models that come out are strictly identical, whether in configuration or assembly.
Custom watercooling machines are made in a separate workshop made up of three technicians. When a PC is ordered, Cybertek can send it within 24 hours if it is in stock. If this is not the case, the technicians take care of the assembly. This can take some time, especially since parts are sometimes ordered individually. For example, on our White Coffee model, the waterblock that covers the processor is custom-made by a craftsman based in Vietnam (costing 800 euros).
If there is a problem with the newly shipped machine, Cybertek indicates that it can be returned if necessary, but that failures are extremely rare. All PCs are guaranteed for two years, but in most cases, defective parts are identified within the first few months. However, certain factors, such as the use of electronic cigarettes, can quickly damage components, the manufacturer told us. Therefore, avoid placing it near your computer.
What's the value of PC assembly?
Cybertek lent us the White Coffee, a custom water-cooled PC of its own, for sale on the site. A beautiful beast sold at 5599 euros. This is a unique configuration, here are its technical characteristics:
- AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
- Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080
- 32 GB RAM
- 2 TB
- Gigabyte B650E AORUS STEALTH ICE motherboard
- Corsair 6500X Mid-Tower Dual Chamber Bamboo case
- Waterwooling with custom buckle
In terms of performance, we have something powerful at stake. It must be said that the RTX 5080 is impressive, particularly with its DLSS 4 which triples the frame rate on compatible games (like Doom The Dark Ages). You can find all the benchmarks in our test.
Nvidia RTX 5080 test: its immense strength is DLSS 4
But let's focus instead on what Cybertek wants to highlight: the quality of the assembly. On this point, nothing to complain about, the product presented is of quality. What we particularly like is the care taken with the visual consistency of the whole, whether in terms of the colors (white and wood), the choice of the dual-chamber aquarium case, the LEDs (also white) as well as the arrangement and fixing of the components. We note the choice of the RTX 5080 Master Ice from Aorus, with its integrated screen that makes its little effect. It doesn't serve any purpose, but it adds an additional premium touch.
The watercooling assembly is also to be commended, with an efficient custom loop well hidden in the second chamber of the tower. Let's add the unique part placed on the processor, the waterblock with this little mill that activates when the PC turns on, original and fun. An extremely well-assembled and coherent configuration, a testament to the care Cybertek takes with its products. Obviously, this watercooling system demonstrates its effectiveness, with a silent tower even when gaming (39 decibels) as well as the interior of a case that does not exceed 55 degrees.
The White Coffee is, of course, a Cybertek flagship product. A demonstration of its know-how. However, we were able to get our hands on other PCs from the brand that are “content” with aircooling, like the Inferno (which is no longer available today), and if they are a little less flashy, they benefit from the same care in terms of assembly. In short, serious and quality work.
The White Coffee is available on the Cybertek website for 5599 euros.
