Elden Ring: A huge surprise could well materialize

Elden Ring: A huge surprise could well materialize

With Elden Ring Nightreign arriving on May 30th, many signs have been pointing since the 2022 release of FromSoftware's original Elden Ring that it could be getting a movie adaptation. Yesterday, a relatively unknown site that has already made a name for itself with proven exclusive revelations added even more fuel to the rumor mill on this subject. Let's follow this thread of grace.

An Elden Ring movie with a serious director well and truly in the making?

Last night, the NexusPointNews website published an article stating in capital letters: "EXCLUSIVE: Alex Garland is directing the Elden Ring movie for A24." This news caused a stir online, given the enormous excitement surrounding FromSoftware's latest flagship franchise. Especially since Alex Garland has worked on many high-caliber films, such as 28 Days Later and 28 Years Later, which are coming this year, as a screenwriter, or Ex Machina, as a director.

Unfortunately, a few hours after its publication, the article is no longer online on the site. Several colleagues then tried to contact him, as well as interested parties A24, Alex Garland, and FromSoftware, without a response from them. This new rumor surrounding an Elden Ring film should therefore be taken with a grain of salt. That being said, NexusPointNews had in the past delivered other exclusive information that had proven conclusive.

Regarding this famous Elden Ring film, we know that Hidetaka Miyazaki, CEO of FromSoftware, was interested in the idea, as was George R.R. Martin (Game of Thrones), to whom we owe the lore of the Middle-Earth. The latter had also teased last year that an adaptation of the latest masterpiece from the talented Japanese studio was potentially in the pipeline. Whether Alex Garland will indeed be the director is, however, currently only a new rumor, pending more official information. With its spin-off Nightreign coming out in a few weeks, it's hard not to imagine that FromSoftware intends to capitalize as much as possible on its new flagship license, provided it finds the right partners to produce an adaptation that lives up to the already legendary original work.
