Exynos or Snapdragon? Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7 Processor Confirmed

Thanks to a publication on the benchmark site Geekbench, we know which processor will power Samsung's future Galaxy Z Fold 7. Who won the battle, Exynos or Snapdragon? Answer.

Exynos or Snapdragon? Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7 Processor Confirmed

Unless Samsung changes its habits, the brand's future foldable smartphones will be officially unveiled this summer. In this case, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7. As always, numerous leaks allow us to discover both models from every angle weeks before their release. The design and dimensions of the Fold 7 and Flip 7 are already known, for example. As for their technical specifications, there are still some questions.

The main one is undoubtedly that of the processor. We know that Samsung often hesitates: turn to Qualcomm and its Snapdragon or trust its internally developed Exynos chip? Learning that the latter has finally been chosen does not delight users. It is still inferior to its competitor in terms of power, even if it must be admitted that for basic use, we do not see the difference. Still, Samsung has made its decision for the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

Here is the processor that will power the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7

Spotted on Geekbench, a new entry mentions a device designated by the code SM-F966N. This is a Korean variant of the Z Fold 7. Its processor is clearly indicated: the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the same one found in the Galaxy S25 series, among others. More precisely, it's an overclocked version that's present here, with 2 cores clocked at 4.47 GHz and 6 others at 3.5 GHz.

Don't be fooled by the performance scores displayed, they are below what you'd expect. This means that the Z Fold 7 tested is not in its final form. As for the Z Flip 7, the known information is less encouraging. It is very likely that it will be equipped with Samsung's Exynos 2500 processor, which is assumed to be less powerful than the Snapdragon 8 Elite. We will have to wait several more weeks before knowing for sure. The most optimistic rumor speaks of a presentation in early July 2025.
