First look at the new Wear OS 6 interface

With Material 3 Expressive, Google is giving the Android and Wear OS interfaces a fresh look. It's all about smoothing out the rough edges, injecting dynamism, and, in the words of the search engine, provoking emotions! Time will tell if the desired goal has been achieved, but in the meantime, we can always refresh our memory with our presentation:

In addition to Android 16, Wear OS 6 is therefore due this major facelift. The new interface should appear on Pixel Watches by the end of the year; third-party smartwatches will have to be patient. Google has provided many details on this new version, which developers can already test with the first Developer Preview of the update. Indeed, there are plenty of changes!

The interface elements follow the specifications of the new design, with circular shapes and dynamic size adjustment as you scroll through the menus. The buttons "react" to touch with a playful animation. The transition between the different sections of the OS is highlighted by a discreet but successful tilting effect.

The operating system hasn't fully embraced the Material 3 Expressive design yet. There are still large sections of the interface that need to be adapted, particularly in the settings. In short, it's still an open-air construction site, but the first results are rather encouraging for this new feature.
