Frostpunk 2 continues to evolve, and 11 bit studios is hitting hard with a major update. On the agenda: new content, reworked mechanics, and even a more accessible mode for players who want to take a break. Available now on PC, this 1.3 patch promises to transform the way you play.
A new map on Frostpunk 2 for first-time fans
The map The Pit is making a comeback, but in Frostpunk 2. Already present in the first Frostpunk, it returns in a revised version for the Utopia Builder mode. Here, you must build your city around an old, abandoned generator site. This new setting imposes new constraints... and therefore new strategies. Nothing is set in stone; everything needs to be rethought.
Another new feature: Tales from the Frostland. These are optional scenarios for Frostpunk 2, with clear objectives and enhanced storytelling. Each challenge tells a story, with its own constraints and rewards. Complete one and you'll unlock a unique monument. Fail... and the game ends. These stories provide a real plus for those looking for a challenge and depth.
Heating, a local issue now
This is undoubtedly the biggest change in this update. Until now, heat was managed on a global scale. Now, each district has its own temperature. From "frozen" to "pleasant," each level has its own effects on residents, health, and productivity.
A new heat allocation system in Frostpunk 2 allows you to distribute the generator's power as needed. But be careful: it now has a limited capacity. You'll have to make choices. Especially since some buildings also produce heat... or illness. Management therefore becomes much more precise, more realistic, and above all, more strategic.
Want to build peacefully without being overwhelmed? Serenity mode is for you. No faction wars, milder weather, more abundant resources... This more relaxed mode allows you to enjoy Frostpunk 2 at your own pace, without sacrificing the richness of the experience.
Update 1.3 also brings many improvements:
- New laws and technologies
- Two new buildings
- Smoother overall balancing
- Visual adjustments to districts and buildings
- New achievements to unlock
- Technical optimizations (loading times, Unreal Engine 5.4.3)
- Additions for mod creation (tutorials, tools, redesigned interface)
