Galaxy Z Fold 7: Samsung would no longer be the last wheel in terms of thinness

Galaxy Z Fold 7: Samsung would no longer be the last wheel in terms of thinness

While the specs of the future Galaxy Z Fold 7 are starting to be revealed through rumors, one element continues to be debated: its thickness. Having lagged a bit behind on the subject until now, the Korean company has reportedly decided to finally offer a book-sized smartphone that is competitive in this area.

Except that until now, the actual thickness of the Z Fold 7 remained a mystery. While Samsung has obviously not communicated on the subject and is quietly awaiting the launch, which should take place in July 2025, an important source has just provided new information on this subject.

Is the Fold 7 finally in the race?

In a tweet, leaker Ice Universe, who is generally very well informed about Samsung, published a comparison table of the supposed dimensions of the Z Fold 7 compared to its predecessor and the Fold Special Edition. And surprise, according to him, it would measure 3.9 mm thick once unfolded.

To give a little perspective to such a figure, let's remember that the last two champions in the field, the Honor Magic V3 and the Oppo Find N5 measure respectively 4.35 mm and 4.21 mm, without counting their photo modules. After being the last wheel on the wagon, Samsung could once again become the figurehead of bold folding smartphone designs.

If we look at the other dimensions of the smartphone, the information from Ice Universe confirms previous rumors that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 would be based on the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. Not only would it be slightly wider and taller, but its width-to-height ratio would make it more square.

In practical terms, this should make it easier to use the external screen on the front, while making the internal screen, the one that folds, a little more square. Furthermore, according to Ice Universe, the bezels around the screen have been reduced. They would go from 1.9 to 1 mm inside.
