We finally have some official news, and it might dampen fans' enthusiasm.
GTA 6 finally has its release date, and you won't like it
We were expecting it for the end of 2025 without any further details. Take-Two's CEO seemed confident about his strategy of only revealing the game and information shortly before the game's release date, but it seems that plans have changed. To everyone's surprise, Rockstar has just released a brief statement revealing what everyone was waiting for: the release date for GTA 6.
Yes, you read that right, we finally know when GTA 6 will be released, and it's not anytime soon. GTA 6 will ultimately not be released until May 26, 2026, far from the originally planned release window. Rockstar explains the delay as a desire to push harder in order to outdo itself.
"We are sincerely sorry that this is later than you expected. The interest and anticipation surrounding GTA has been truly humbling for the entire team. We want to thank you for your support and patience while we finish the game. With every new release, our goal has always been to try to exceed your expectations, and GTA 6 is no exception. We hope you will understand that we need more time to deliver the level of quality you expect and deserve."
The words have been said, Rockstar wants to take the time to refine its foal to the end. As a reminder, the CEO of Take-Two has constantly repeated that Rockstar aims for perfection and that GTA 6 will mark the history of video games. Fine words that seem to take on their full meaning here. So you'll have to be patient for a while longer. GTA 6 may be delayed, but it could well show up in the coming months.
