Talking about Half-Life 3 may sound like a bad April Fool's joke, but behind the scenes, Valve seems to have taken it seriously enough to have already delivered several iterations of a new game internally. But for almost 21 years, nothing has been in the hands of players. Instead, the company still offered the masterful Half-Life Alyx. Recently, a preview of Half-Life 2 RTX was released for free. It's a version of the famous game with the implementation of technologies like DLSS and ray tracing.
A surprise release of Half-Life 3 sooner than we think?
Will the Half-Life 3 myth become reality? In any case, based on the numerous leaks of the last few months, the game would indeed exist. For example, there's the mention of "Project White Sands" on voice actress Natasha Chandel's resume. A name that should ring a bell with fans given that it's the location where the Black Mesa laboratory is located. If we search the upcoming releases on the Steam store, we can see that there are two Valve games in development. One of them is Deadlock, while the second is said to be Half-Life 3.
A recent confession from Evgeniy Evstratiy, who is working on Deadlock, has also sparked controversy. "I was in the room where Half-Life 3 was made," he said. Additionally, references to an HLX project have been found in the codes of titles such as DotA 2. The voice actor for Gordan Freeman, the hero of the Half-Life franchise, even teased something by saying "Already a new year. It's a pleasure to see and hear from so many of you. May the next quarter century hold as many unexpected surprises as the first millennium." All this with the Valve hashtags, #Half-Life, and #G-Man. And there are other examples of this type.
Today, Half-Life 3 is once again the victim of new leaks that will drive fans crazy. According to him, the playtests are so numerous and carried out "so religiously" that tongues can loosen more easily. But above all, he claims that Half-Life 3 could be revealed this summer... and released as early as this winter. Additionally, it is stated that this episode would use procedural generation for elements like door placement, physical objects, enemy types, and even NPCs. Could the long-awaited announcement happen soon, perhaps at Summer Game Fest 2025? The answer in a few weeks...
