Marvel: Here are Sentry's 8 worst enemies

Marvel: Here are Sentry's 8 worst enemies

Sentry is one of the most powerful characters in the entire Marvel Universe. After all, he possesses the power of a million molten suns. That's all. So, naturally, to compete with Sentry, you needed extremely strong supervillains. Here are 8 characters capable of rivaling Sentry. 8 characters who have already faced the terrible Robert Reynolds on several occasions.

8) Cranio

Marvel: Here are Sentry's 8 worst enemies

Created in 2018, Cranio is one of Sentry's worst enemies. Basically, Cranio is a mad scientist who develops a special helmet allowing him to develop unprecedented mental powers. In The Age of the Sentry, Robert Reynolds creates the Sentry World, a pocket universe in which the Sentry can relive his past glories without being bothered by Void. Cranio then decides to attack the Sentry in this Sentry World. He kills everyone close to him and destroys the Sentry's false reality, forcing him to return to the real world, thus allowing Void to regain control of his mind.

7) The General

Created in 2001, the General is also a former enemy of the Sentry. Apparently, it's the General who is responsible for Sentry's erasure. This psychotic, insane, and powerless general could even be a creation of Void intended to control and subdue Robert Reynolds.

6) Ares

Sentry and the God of War have clashed several times in the comics. The two characters notably rubbed shoulders during the Dark Avengers arc, during which Norman Osborn took over as leader of the Avengers. He notably recruited Ares and Sentry to his team. Except that the events of Siege pushed Void to resurface. Void took control of Robert and set out to purely and simply destroy Asgard. When Ares saw that his former ally Robert Reynolds was starting to lose control, he tried to stop his madness. After a short fight, Ares was simply torn in two (literally) by Sentry. Bloody! A fight that allowed Void to take complete control of Robert.

5) Billy Turner

Marvel: Here are Sentry's 8 worst enemies

Billy Turner is a rather mysterious character in the Sentry universe. In fact, Billy Turner is Sentry's former sidekick before his entire existence was erased. Created in 2000, Billy Turner is also known by the pseudonym Scout. After Sentry's disappearance, Billy returned to a normal life as a waiter in a restaurant with his mother. When Sentry reappeared, Billy Turner's memories as Scout came flooding back. He then remembered the toxicity of his relationship with Robert, the existence of Void, and how the latter tore off his arm. Faced with the resurgence of his memories, Billy decides to join forces with Cranio to get revenge on Sentry and Void. It is thanks to Billy in particular that Cranio manages to enter Sentry World. Billy's goal is to take Sentry's place. Power-wise, Scout has broadly the same abilities as Sentry. He died when his super-soldier serum overloaded his body.

4) Knull

Marvel: Here are Sentry's 8 worst enemies

Knull is the primordial god of darkness. Featured in Venom: The Last Dance, Knull is a top-notch supervillain. He is notably the one who created the symbiotes, the race of Venom. While he constantly seeks to invade Earth and plunge it into darkness, in King in Black, Sentry is the last defense against Knull. Except that Knull controls dark energy, darkness, and night itself. He can therefore have an impact on Void, and therefore on Robert Reynolds. In King in Black (2020), Knull even manages to assassinate Sentry, much in the same way that the latter cold-bloodedly killed Ares. For the moment, Sentry is still dead in the Marvel continuum. Because of Knull, of course! At least one primordial god was needed to defeat a million molten suns.

3) Hulk

Marvel: Here are Sentry's 8 worst enemies

In World War Hulk, Bruce Banner begins a quest for revenge. Indeed, in Planet Hulk, the Jade Giant finds peace and love on Sakaar. Except that a bomb in his ship results in the death of his wife. Mad with rage, Hulk thinks that humans are responsible for this assassination. He therefore decides to return to Earth to kill everyone. In World War Hulk, the Green Giant faces most of the greatest heroes of the Marvel universe (Iron Man, Black Bolt, Ares, The Fantastic Four, She-Hulk, Dr. Strange), whom he defeats one after the other. The Avengers have no other choice but to call on Sentry. A titanic battle between the two most powerful Avengers thus begins. A confrontation that will end in a tie.

2) Molecule Man

Marvel: Here are Sentry's 8 worst enemies

Molecule Man is arguably one of the most powerful characters in all of Marvel's creation. Even Galactus fears this little guy. Molecule Man exists simultaneously in all realities. He can control reality at the molecular level, allowing him to alter the time continuum as he wishes. Created in 1963, Owen Reece is a lab technician who works in a nuclear power plant. One day, he causes an accident and is irradiated by unknown particles, transforming him into one of the most powerful beings in the world: Molecule Man. He is also responsible for the arrival of the Beyonders on Earth-616. His creation leads to the appearance of a glass hole between several dimensions. Often, Reece is so powerful that he is imprisoned by different entities. Uatu, Reed Richards or even Doom have held him prisoner for decades to prevent him from reshaping reality. In Dark Avengers #10 by Brian Michael Bendis and Mike Deodato Jr., Osborn's team faces Molecule Man. While the latter largely dominates the Dark Avengers and kills Sentry, a historic event occurs. Sentry, in turn, manages to control the molecules in his body, returns from the dead, defeats Molecule Man, and resurrects the Dark Avengers. A confrontation that reveals the extent of Sentry's powers, capable of rivaling characters like Molecule Man.

1) Void

Marvel: Here are Sentry's 8 worst enemies

Ultimately, Robert Reynolds' greatest enemy is, of course, Robert Reynolds himself. Robert Reynolds suffers from bipolar disorder and dissociative identity disorder. He thus divides his body and mind between two facets: Sentry and Void. The former is the planet's greatest hero, the latter its greatest threat. For every life saved, Void must claim one. When Robert Reynolds loses his temper, when he becomes anxious, or when his invasive thoughts become overwhelming, he transforms into Void, a demonic entity that feeds on darkness and emptiness. Traditionally, Void is tasked with erasing all of Sentry's good deeds. Void is as strong as Sentry. And since the latter was born from Reynolds' mind, he can therefore develop new abilities constantly coming from Reynolds' unconscious. Void is therefore incontestably Sentry's worst enemy!
