One Piece: A Dream Come True

The One Piece manga continues to be talked about! While Netflix continues to tease season 2 of the live-action series, manga readers discover each week the events of the Erbaf arc, the Giant Island on which the Straw Hats have finally set foot. Very intense, this new arc taught us a very important truth about Red-Haired Shanks! For anime viewers, the Egghead Island arc has just reached its climax with the appearance of a formidable new enemy. At the same time, Netflix and Wit Studios are working hard on their anime remake project. In short, you'll have understood: the universe of One Piece is doing very well!

Manga artist Eiichirō Oda, whose health greatly worried his fans in 2024, is involved in several of these projects. The Japanese artist has also adjusted his schedule, delivering only three chapters per month, in order to free up time - and protect his back and eyesight. It should be noted that the working conditions of manga artists are particularly difficult, and that several of them complain of disabling health problems. One example is Yoshihiro Togashi (Yu Yu Hakusho, Hunter x Hunter), whose manga is frequently on hiatus due to back problems.

Eiichirō Oda took advantage of his free time to sign a collaboration with Netflix and LEGO to produce building sets related to the universe of the live-action series. Very happy with the result, the mangaka published a photo in which we see him holding a LEGO replica of the Gomu Gomu no Mi - the Devil Fruit that Monkey D. Luffy ate at the beginning of the manga and which gave him his powers - and which turned out to be the Hito Hito no Mi (the Human Fruit), Nika model. A Devil Fruit coveted by the World Government and feared by the Divine Knights!

Regardless, the mangaka couldn't be happier with this collaboration. Last January, Eiichirō Oda released a statement explaining that it was a dream come true for him. "LEGO sets are coming! Even now, I have dozens of LEGO boxes stacked at my work that I don't even have time to explore. There is no cooler toy!! For 25 years since the anime began, I've been dreaming of a LEGO toy, and finally my dream is coming true with a collection for the live-action! Thanks to the LEGO Group!! Yay!! You can be I'm sure I'll build and display them. LEGO history and other cult toys."

Eiichirō Oda has never hidden his love of toys, already visible in the Dressrosa arc. At the beginning of the Erbaf arc, which begins in chapter 1126, he explicitly paid homage to LEGO; the Straw Hats wake up in an environment where we see a castle that seems to be built from LEGO. A nod that seemed to announce the collaboration between the author and the Danish group.
