One UI 7 (Android 15): These Samsung Galaxy A will not receive the update

High-end smartphones may be the stuff of dreams, but their price is a deterrent for many. A few years ago, the average purchase price of a smartphone in France was still around €450. It will probably still be less than €500 in 2025.

Yet just a few years ago, buying a smartphone at this price meant saying goodbye to updates after a few years. Since then, Samsung and Google have significantly upped their game and are offering 6 or 7 years of software support on affordable smartphones.

As a result, a host of Galaxy A models are seeing their support end this year. Gizmochina has identified the essentials. Unless there is a surprise, they will not receive the latest update, One UI7, based on Android 15.

The list of Galaxy A phones that will not receive One UI7

Based on the manufacturer's update promises, we end up with the following list of devices that will not benefit from the new features of the latest version:

  • Galaxy A72
  • Galaxy A52
  • Galaxy A52 5G
  • Galaxy A52s 5G
  • Galaxy A32
  • Galaxy A32 5G
  • Galaxy A22
  • Galaxy A22 5G
  • Galaxy A13 5G
  • Galaxy A12
  • Galaxy A03
  • Galaxy A03s
  • Galaxy A02
  • All A-series phones launched before 2021

One UI7 is a major update to the Korean manufacturer's overlay. It brings a complete interface overhaul, as well as numerous features such as the Now Bar, the Now Brief, and a whole gallery of tools related to the use of generative AI.

Among the host of new features in One UI7 found on the most high-end smartphones like the Galaxy S25, some will never make it to the cheapest smartphones anyway. This can give the impression of a one-size-fits-all interface, or even an attempt to create an artificial range effect.

But let's remember that choosing whether or not to bring a new version of an Android overlay to older devices is not an easy choice. Between the cost of monitoring an entire fleet of devices and the level of performance required to ensure a smooth experience, which is not always available in the entry-level range, manufacturers must make choices.
